You don’t need surgery to look and feel your best. This is one of the key tenets of Holistic Plastic Surgery.

So, in addition to eating right, clean skin care, and a healthy lifestyle, what can you do to look the way you want?

In this episode of The Holistic Plastic Surgery Show, I reveal four of the hottest new treatments to turn back the clock and give you the face and body you’ve always wanted. Not only are these some of the most popular treatments at my Detroit practice, but they are also available in plastic surgeons’ and dermatologists’ offices across the country.

You don’t have to pay for expensive lasers or undergo surgery to have glowing, youthful skin. Sometimes, making simple changes to what you eat, what you put on your skin, and how you live your life can have major impacts on how your skin looks.

For example, did you know that simple is often better when it comes to skin care? Or that studies show eating dairy can lead to breakouts and adult acne? Or that taking just ten minutes to relax and deep breathe can reduce the stress on your skin?

My guest this week, one of the nation’s most prominent dermatologists, shares with us her top ten tips to achieve healthy skin. These are simple, holistic tips that you can and should start today to get you on the path to compliments from your family and friends.

Please join me and my good friend, board-certified dermatologist Dr. Whitney Bowe as we reveal A Dermatologist’s Top Ten Tips for Glowing Skin.

Not every plastic surgeon practices holistic plastic surgery.  But my guest this week does.

Dr. Alexes Hazen is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has made huge changes to her life and how she treats patients.  Although she is an Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery at NYULangone Health Center, she encourages her patients to take a more holistic viewpoint in how they take care of themselves.

On this episode, we’ll discuss exactly what holistic plastic surgery means to Dr. Hazen.  We’ll reveal what she recommends for eating (such as decreasing gluten!), putting on the skin, advice for getting better sleep, and treatments to turn back the clock.  She’ll also tell us why she hasn’t jumped on every holistic health bandwagon, and what criteria she uses to determine what’s good for her and her patients.

Please join me and my good friend, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Alexes Hazen, as we discuss Holistic Plastic Surgery: What to Eat, Apply, and Do to Look Younger.

“No matter what I do or eat, I seem to gain weight.”

This is a common statement that I hear from so many of my female patients as they enter their 30s, 40s, and 50s. Eating a healthy diet, counting calories, and exercising regularly don’t always seem to cut it. So what is a woman to do?

My guest this week has created a simple program to help women (and men) lose weight and feel great. The keys involve a ketogenic diet, alkaline foods, stress reduction, and paying attention to your hormones. These can all interact to create a beautiful symphony that is an optimally functioning body where the pounds come off and the energy soars.

Interested? Please join my guest, board-certified Ob-GYN Dr. Anna Cabeca, and me as we reveal Keto-Green 16 – A New Way to Lose Weight and Feel Great.

Although my podcast focuses on holistic health and beauty for adults, occasionally a subject comes up that isn’t one of our usual topics, but I believe strongly must be shared with you.

PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections) and PANS (Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome) are childhood conditions where children develop abrupt changes in behavior caused by the body’s response to an underlying infection or exposure.  Previously scoffed at by conventional physicians as being false diagnoses, more and more doctors are realizing that this is a real problem for many children.

On this episode of the Holistic Plastic Surgery Show, I’m joined by an expert in treating PANDAS and PANS using a truly integrative medical approach. We reveal how to tell if your child is suffering from one of these conditions, what treatments can help, and why they are so often misdiagnosed.

Please join me and my good friend, Dr. Scott Antoine, as we discuss PANDAS and PANS – What Every Parent Must Know.

Food is Medicine.

Dr. Terry Wahls was diagnosed with progressive multiple sclerosis, confined to a wheelchair, and told by her neurologists to get her affairs in order. Instead of giving up, however, she researched the foods that power the mitochondria in the brain, completely revamped her diet, and in less than twelve months she was off her medications and riding her bicycle to work.

Using principles that worked for her, Dr. Wahls is now helping thousands of people with multiple sclerosis and other debilitating autoimmune conditions to get their lives back. Using a protocol which focuses on eating the right amounts of real foods, Dr. Wahls is one of functional and holistic medicine’s leaders in educating the public and other doctors on the power of food as medicine.

On this episode of The Holistic Plastic Surgery Show, Dr. Wahls shares with us her story and the protocol she uses to heal autoimmune disease. We discuss which types of foods should be removed from the diet, which foods to add, and what lifestyle modifications can make major changes for our health. It’s an eye-opening discussion with a true trailblazer in functional and holistic medicine.

Are cellphones the cigarettes of the 21st century?

My guest this week believes they are. EMF stands for Electromagnetic Frequencies, and we are being exposed to a greater amount of EMF’s than ever before. So what can these exposures do to our health?

Studies show that excess amounts of EMF’s can cause a myriad of symptoms, including headaches, fatigue, brain fog, and even the early onset of cancer. So why aren’t we more worried about them, especially with the upcoming arrival of 5G and even greater exposures?

My guest, Dr. Joe Mercola, has written a new book about the dangers of EMF called EMF’d. In this episode of The Holistic Plastic Surgery Show, he explains the risks of excess EMF exposures, why these risks are being withheld from the public, and simple steps you can take to mitigate these risks and keep you and your families healthy and safe.

Please join me and Dr. Joe Mercola as we discuss EMF’s, 5G, and the Effects of Your Cellphone on Your Health.

Essences. Masks. Copper. Retinol. Vitamin C. Today there are more categories of skin care products and important ingredients in these products than anyone can learn and master. If you’re like the vast majority of women and men in the United States, the sheer number of different kinds and brands of skin care products on the shelves leaves you confused. Which of the hundreds of different products sitting on shelves in front of you do you actually buy?

Well, rest assured.  You’re not alone.  Most plastic surgeons and even dermatologists get confused, too.  It’s not easy to keep up with all the trends and new products in skin care today.

On today’s episode of The Holistic Plastic Surgery Show, we’re going to get to the bottom of skin care.  I’ll reveal what skin care products you need, which may be considered a helpful splurge, and which ones you can definitely avoid.  And, I’m going to give you what I consider the Ultimate Anti-Aging Skin Care Routine.

And, if you listen to the end of the episode, I’ll have a special gift for you.  Tune in for a skin care routine that will change your skin for good!

Do you have a “sugar brain?”

Sugar brain is the term coined by my guest this week, New York Times bestselling author and psychologist Dr. Mike Dow. It describes the actual physical shrinkage that occurs when you eat too much sugar and other unhealthy foods.

Yes, eating too much sugar can actually make your brain smaller!

On this episode of The Holistic Plastic Surgery Show, we dive deep into sugar brain and its connections to how you feel, how your brain functions, and your eating habits. For example, did you know that the food you eat can have major effects on anxiety and depression? Or that such acts as obsessive eating, emotional eating, and binge eating can fuel sugar brain? And Dr. Mike explains why he believes a combination of a ketogenic and Mediterranean diet is the best for your overall health, longevity, and avoiding the sugar brain.

Please join me and my good friend Dr. Mike Dow as we reveal How to Fix Your Sugar Brain.

Menopause and perimenopause bring with them major changes to the pelvic region, specifically to the vagina.  The vaginal walls can thin and atrophy, making intercourse difficult and even painful.  There is also an increase in recurrent vaginitis and urinary tract infections. So what causes these changes to occur, and what can you do about them or even prevent them from becoming a problem?

On this episode of The Holistic Plastic Surgery Show, I’m joined by the nation’s first female board certified urogynecologist.  She’ll give us the latest information on holistic health of the pelvic region, including why changes in pH and bacteria inside the vagina can create major impacts. We’ll discuss why she doesn’t recommend estrogen pills, which topical products she does recommend, and she’ll give us the straight scoop on vaginal rejuvenation lasers. Are they really all that?

This is a discussion that all women, whether pre-, peri-, or post-menopause, should hear.

Please join me and board-certified gynecologist Dr. Betsy Greenleaf as we cover Holistic Pelvic Health – How to Deal with the Changes that Happen “Down There.”

How we eat can be as important as what we eat.

As a society, we are placing less and less emphasis on the timeless tradition of enjoying a good meal with good company.  We eat while driving, watching TV, or staring at our phones.

But how does this affect our health, our weight, and our relationships?

My guest this week is a clinical psychologist who has dedicated her career to encouraging the practice of eating mindfully.  She’s found in her practice that mindless eating is a major cause of anxiety, weight gain, relationship issues, and even hanger- the combination of hunger and anger that we’ve all experienced at one time or another.

So if you have issues with food, aren’t happy with your family’s mealtime practices, or maybe you’re just tired of being hangry all the time, then this episode is for you.

Please join me and Dr. Susan Albers as we discuss Eating Mindfully and Hanger Management.
